Brand Ferdinand Arrives at Liverpool's Cavern Walks
Friday, July 15, 2011
FIVE, the new footwear brand inspired and created by Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand, has arrived exclusively to Liverpool at Solely Shoes in Cavern Walks.
Named after his Manchester United shirt number, the range consists of shoes and boots with distressed textures and battered silhouettes that make the ‘worn-in’ look wearable.
Owner of Solely Shoes, Mark Astbury, said: “The philosophy of the collection is ‘all in a days work’ so the boots, whilst exceptionally well made, are comfortable, sophisticated and casual, and perfect for the modern man about town. According to Rio, he wanted to create a footwear collection that caters for every aspect of the contemporary man’s busy lifestyle.”
FIVE by Rio Ferdinand is a collaboration between the England football captain and footwear brand Strutt Men, founded by designer Ian O’Conner.
Rio said: “I'm always looking for opportunities to expand my interests outside of football and fashion is a passion of mine. I've been involved in the development of some other major fashion brands, so when Ian approached me with the concept for the FIVE brand and he showed me his plans for the business, it was a perfect fit for me. I'm delighted to be involved and I'm looking forward to building the brand for the long term."
The footwear brand has already been spotted on celebrities such as Tottenham Hotspur’s Tom Huddlestone and boyband JLS, who recently wore the Rex, Reuben and Rocco boots to the BT Digital Music Awards.
The collection retails between £100-£200.
